An Interview With Gina Champion Cain

An Interview With Gina Champion Cain, CPM®, CEO of American National Investments, Inc.

Q: How can IREM be a resource for someone interested in receiving their ARM Certification or
CPM designation?

A: IREM has a fantastic network of professionals who can mentor and inspire those interested in
receiving these very important designations.

Q: What did you do before you were in the residential real estate industry? Did you ‘fall’ into this
industry like many of your peers?

A: I have been in all aspects of real estate since an early age…I grew up in the industry.

Q: Why did you decide to become an ARM or CPM? (your story)

A: I wanted to be on top of my game. I wanted all the tools to be the best. I felt that obtaining my CPM
was like a PhD in my industry.

Q: What would you say are the top 3 advantages of getting your ARM or CPM?

A:

1. Exhibits a level of commitment and sacrifice that anyone would want their professional
manager to demonstrate.
2. Commands a level of respect from your peers as well as customers and clients.
3. Provides an excellent networking community.

Q: What was the most difficult part of receiving your ARM certification or CPM designation?

A:When I achieved my CPM, we had to do a final thesis of a project study. Not sure if they still require
that, but it was really difficult. I learned a tremendous amount by doing it though.

Q:What is 1 piece of advice you’d give to all future ARMs?

A: I am a CPM not ARM…I would just recommend to both, however, to keep up with your networking
and continuing education to be the best you can be in this industry and on the cutting edge of
technology.

Q: What do you like most about being an ARM or CPM?

A: The networking / the people.

Q: Why San Diego, with so many investors leaving CA you've managed to make a name for
yourself with the Patio Group? (Women who mean Business and on the List of 500 most
Influential Business Leaders)

A: It has nothing to do with “investors” with me…I just work very hard and surround myself with great
people.

Q: What do you do for fun, tell us something no one knows about you?

A: I love my three golden retrievers and spend as much “down” time with them as possible. I also love
to golf.

Thank you for sharing your insight with us, Gina!
